In class we learned about the MBTI psychological classifications, which divide human personalities into sixteen "types" based on the following four concerns: For extra credit, you can take the full Myers-Briggs test here and post your results in the comments section, along with a self-analysis and an example of a character from anything we've read (Crucible, F451, Cuckoo's Nest, BNW, etc.) Below is a more detailed discussion of all the types to help you out!

When I took the Myers-Briggs test my results were ESFJ. I think this is an accurate representation of myself, on my best day. “Warmhearted, conscientious, and cooperative. Want harmony in their environment, work with determination to establish it. Like to work with others to complete tasks accurately and on time. Loyal, follow through even in small matters. Notice what others need in their day-by-day lives and try to provide it. Want to be appreciated for who they are and for what they contribute.” (www.myersbriggs.org) Although, I do agree with the results if I was perfect, but I am wondering where the negative traits for ESFJ are located? I guess thats what Myers-Briggs does, it gives everyone the positive aspects of their personally its so we will focus on our strengths. This is the reason I find it hard to find a character with the same traits as myself but that falls into anyone of the categories. The books we have read F451, One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest, The Crucible, etc. they have all been kinda dark and not many characters in the novels have a lot of bright and shinning qualities. Personally I believe that Rebecca Nurse would be the example of someone who could take the Myers-Briggs and get an accurate result. Rebecca Nurse would get the most accurate results because she has more positive qualities than any other character in the books we have read. The citizens of Salem hold Rebecca as the highest standard that a puritan women could be. On the bottom of page twenty five, in act one, it says “Rebecca also enjoyed the high opinion of most people”.

When I took the Myers-Briggs test, I scored at an ISTJ. Coincidentally, this is the same result as my test in class! Some of the words used to describe the ISTJ are responsible, sincere, analytical, systematic, realistic, hardworking, and uses practical judgement. This all describes my personality. Whenever I am part of a group or team, I feel the need to take responsibility if we don't do well or fail at something. I am sincere and honest; lying isn't usually my preference. Decision making for me is determined by the practicality of a situation and how useful it will be for me and others. I analyze every situation realistically before I make my decision. I like having a rhythm in anything I do, so being systematic and not being spontaneous suits my personality. I work hard in every subject and everything else, and I try not be lackadaisical. In my opinion, Abigail from The Crucible represents most of ISTJ. She makes decisions based on what is good for herself and what is practical for her. For example, even though she lied when she pretended to be controlled by Mary Warren, she was making decisions for herself. She worked hard at making she she would not be accused and possibly killed by lying about every action she took. She was realistic and analytical for preserving her own life, also part of ISTJ. She was a liar and did act spontaneously, but for the most part i think that she exemplified ISTJ.

According to the Myers-Briggs Personality Test, I am an ISFP. This means that I enjoy being spontaneous and living in the moment instead of worrying about the future. Also, they believe strongly in their gut feeling, and therefore will be more open to taking risks. They need time to themselves and enjoy nature. ISFPs have a strong sense of emotion and feel a connection to themselves and the world around them. Positive traits include very creative, optimistic and supportive, having strong personal values, and sympathetic to others. However, negative traits include holding back feelings and thoughts, disliking criticism and conflict, and may come off as lazy to other people. A good example of an ISFP is Clarisse from F451. She demonstrates these qualities because she appreciates beauty and nature, unlike many of the other characters in the book. Also, she likes alone time and often walks around by herself so she can think and spend time in her own head. She is good at reading people, like when she was able to see so much of Montag's true personality after one conversation. She rebelled against the government's encouraged human behavior because she was passionate about her way of living.

I took the personality test and scored an ENTJ. I believe that this is a very accurate description of myself as people with the personality ENTJ are known to be loyal, motivated, responsible and giving. I always keep my goals and morals in mind and I've always loved helping others. I believe that ENTJ can be used to describe Faber from Fahrenheit 451. Throughout the novel, Faber always stuck to his traditions of reading even when society told him it was wrong. He was very caring and courageous when he went out of his way to help Guy with his troubles against society as a whole. I think that Faber and I share many similar qualities.

When I took the Myers-Briggs test I scored an INTJ personality. I found that this was quite interesting because exactly like James Latimer, this was the same personality type that I had scored for myself in class on Friday. After reading the chart in the original blog post, I was shocked by how accurately it described me since I sometimes felt unsure of my answers during the test. Some words the chart uses to describe an INTJ personality are innovative, independent, and strategic. I have always been driven by my own ideas and goals. I also always approach things in an analytical and rational way (unless I’m out of it that day). In addition, I like to lead and find new ways to do or create something. Although I am afraid to admit that she is not the most favorable character, I found some similarities with Nurse Ratched’s personality in One Who Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. We are both strategic people since the nurse often had a plan to regain control over the ward from McMurphy. In addition, we are both leaders since she was the worker that assumed the responsibility to run the ward, even though it was the doctor’s job.

I took the Myers-Briggs Personality Test and it showed that I am an ISFP. This means that I enjoy spending time with others, but need time alone as well. People that are classified as ISFP’s can be described as tolerant, realistic, harmonious, and adaptable. They tend to be spontaneous and sensitive towards others. They are interested in the world around them and value their independence. The character Faber from Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury best fits this description. Faber tends to keep to himself in the book. Although he breaks the rules by reading books, he does so in a manner that does not disturb the peace of everyone else who follows the rules. Because of this, he can be described as adaptable and harmonious. Faber can also be classified as realistic because he keeps in touch with the world before all books were destroyed, so he has a more open mind to the world around him.

I just took the Myers-Briggs personality test and it told me that I was ENFP. People with the personality of ENFP are said to be enthusiastic, spontaneous, playful, and can see the potential in others. That description definitely reminds me of McMurphy from One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest. McMurphy is a free spirit that is full of creativity and enthusiasm. McMurphy also has a habit of being able to influence others and bringing out their potential, like how he got Chief to finally speak and have fun. I guess I could say that McMurphy and I share some traits like being creative, but I'm definately not as much of a rebel as him. The personality test said I was ENFP, but I feel like my personality is always changing, especially around different people.

According to the the Myers-Briggs Personality Test, I am an ESFP. People that are classified as ESFPs are enthusiastic, friendly, and have strong common senses. Many of them enjoy performing and entertaining, and I do as well. This description reminded me of Clarisse from Fahrenheit 451. She befriended Guy Montag and endlessly questioned him about things he had barely wondered about himself. She wasn't afraid to stand up for herself and rebel against how the government wanted her to think. Her appreciation for the seemingly insignificant parts of life motivated me to choose her because ESFPs like to keep their lives exciting. Searching for more in life than what meets the eye certainly meets the criteria of an ESFP.

After taking Myers-Briggs test, I received the result of an ENFJ. An ENFJ is a person that usually puts others needs before their own. They often have big goals and can take on many responsibilities at one time. As an ENFJ I believe this is an accurate description of myself. I tend to put others feelings before my own. This ends up with me getting hurt in the process. I am organized when I need to be, and often take place in too many things at one time. When I read the description I thought of Elizabeth Proctor from The Crucible. Even though her husband had cheated on her, she still forgave him and lied to save his life. She put his feelings before her own and tried her hardest to not make him feel guilty. This is a very admirable trait to have. When placed in front of a Judge, she lied to save her husbands life, knowing she was putting her own at risk. Overall ENFJ's are people who trust their feelings, have a lot of sympathy, and love to help others in need.

After taking the test, I found I am ENFJ. Describes as a "People" person and an "idea" person while being strong, sympathetic, and thoughtful, I have a "switch" that, when flipped to "fun" I can appear slightly intoxicated. I am a good speaker and feel comfortable in the spotlight while I would not stay there if given the choice. This very much reminds me of McMurphy from Cuckoo's Nest, as he is deeply sympathetic to those around him and like to have fun, but when he needs to be serious he is. I think this is a fairly accurate representation of myself, though the first time I took the test it came out as inconclusive because apparently, I am quite scattered.
